  Calm Your Mind

Welcome to my website. My name is Andrea Harrn and I have been working in the field of counselling and psychotherapy since 1997.

On this website I will give you some information about counselling and psychotherapy but please feel free to contact me by telephone 07958 714615 or contact me if there is any further information you would like.

Counselling & Psychotherapy

I will offer you time and space to talk and be heard in a safe and confidential environment. You will not be judged for the problems you bring. I will listen to you. Expressing yourself in this way will give freedom to explore problems, issues or inner conflicts that affect your life. Counselling is your time and your space for you alone. It is an opportunity to bring understanding and make sense of your life which in itself can be hugely liberating. There may be current problems or unresolved past issues that are stopping you from living the life you want.

Most people at some point in their lives face difficult issues and problems that can feel hard to handle and out of control. Major life transitions or events can trigger stress, anxiety and depression. For example death of a loved one, relationship break up, divorce, personal injury or illness, loss of job/change of career or health or addiction of family member.

Counselling & Psychotherapy

Bullying, which crops up time and again with clients can also be a trigger for stress and/or physical symptoms such as back ache, neck ache and body tension. Bullying is emotionally abusive and destructive and very often occurs subtely over time. In the workplace it can be difficult to prove which can leave you feeling isolated, confused and depressed. If you are feeling bullied in any way I can help you understand the psychology behind bullying and the reasons you are suffering at this point.

At times of stress it can become difficult to balance life at home and work and hard to share your deepest feelings with those closest to you. You may hold things in or alternatively become embroiled in conflict. Alternatively you may have been living with anxiety or OCD for a long, long time and are sick and tired (literally) of this situation.

My role as your counsellor is to work with you not only in understanding yourself and your reactions to events but also towards learning coping strategies to enable you to live a positive healthy life, the life that you want for yourself- reaching your full potential.

If you feel like life is becoming unmanageable or you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders then you will feel lighter, more in control and more positive even after 1 session.

What is the difference between Counselling & Psychotherapy?

In essence counselling tends to be short-term with a specific goal in mind. Psychotherapy explores issues in greater depth. Both provide an opportunity to talk to a professional in complete confidence and both cover a range of issues; looking at your past, your present situation and future possibilities. The process of counselling and psychotherapy can be profoundly life changing. All humans are in a continuous process of growth and change along life’s journey which has its ups and downs. When we can look at what went before with a greater understanding we can begin to make sense of our current thoughts, feelings and behaviours. However emphasis is always on the HERE AND NOW because we can only live our lives in the present moment.

It can be difficult to decide whether counselling is the right choice for you therefore it is very important to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with. An initial assessment will give us an opportunity to explore whether we can work together effectively.

I can offer an initial assessment appointment to establish whether counselling is appropriate for you.
